[Abstract]:
Monash University of Australia, together with the Institute of Metals of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, jointly developed and manufactured a nano-super twin titanium alloy.

Monash university of Australia, the Chinese Academy of Sciences metal and Shanghai university of technology for science and technology jointly develop nano super twin titanium alloy, this is so far the highest strength weight of 3D printing metal, for manufacturing with unique microstructure and excellent performance of metal materials laid the foundation, can promote aerospace, energy and biomedical industry development. Related results were published in Nature Materials.

Through additive manufacturing technology, the researchers use thermal cycle and rapid solidification to achieve nano-super twin microstructure, producing high strength and thermal stable titanium alloy, overcoming the need for complex casting and thermal machining problems. The results provide a completely new method for precipitation reinforcement in commercial alloys, with an extension rate and tensile strength of 1600 MPa obtained after simple postheat treatment of commercial titanium alloys for producing metal parts with complex shapes.
