[Abstract]:
Nickel-based alloy refers to a kind of alloy with a comprehensive performance of high strength and certain oxidation and corrosion resistance at the high temperature of 650~1000℃. According to the main properties, it is subdivided into nickel-based heat-resistant alloy, nickel-based corrosion-resistant alloy, nickel-based wear-resistant alloy, nickel-based precision alloy and nickel-based shape memory alloy, etc.

  840 Nickel-based alloy alloys usually have an 18 – 20% Cr content and a 19 – 21% nickel content.

The Incoloy 840 alloy is an austenitic stainless steel containing titanium and aluminum. It contains enough chromium to form and maintain enough chromium oxide scale to protect it under high temperature conditions. It is more resistant than traditional chromium nickel stainless steel such as the 304. The higher nickel content gives it better antioxidant properties than the standard 18-8 stainless steel.

Alloy 840 is more resistant to corrosion, pitting / oxidation, gap corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Moreover, this alloy has higher strength, durability, flexibility, strong structure, hardness, good size accuracy, fine surface finish, and thus can be used to make rods. It has the ability to withstand heavy loads and can be used in high temperatures. Therefore, 840 (S33400) alloy is an ideal material for manufacturing high temperature resistant products such as electric heat pipe and automobile emission control system.
